D’ approche multidisciplinaire, j’accorde un intérêt particulier au rapport entre les notions de matérialité et de temporalité dans l’oeuvre, plus précisément au contraste obtenu lorsque leur association est inusitée. Par conséquent, j’exploite d’emblée et simultanément les esthétiques du passé, du présent et du futur au cours d’un même projet. Dans un rapport dichotomique, l’atmosphère clinique et la facture primitive coexistent et participent à ce contraste recherché. La pratique du tatouage influence mon esthétique de manière extensive et la dirige vers une actualisation ainsi qu’une réaffirmation de la primitivité. Je manipule les codes et rituels associés aux cultes de l’Amour, de la Mort et du Sacré; et les réorganise inlassablement à l’intérieur de structures archétypales mais contemporaines. Je suis captivée par le terrain qu’ils occupent dans le scénario humain. Inspirée surtout par la mythologie grecque et son genre épique, j’exprime un univers autoréférentiel formellement influencé par l’héritage culturel des Québécois et des Premières Nations. Par ailleurs, les objets qui émergent de cet univers sont attribuables autant à l’art chamanique (tatouage/ magie) qu’à l’art religieux (prière/ ex-voto/ prophétie). Ils se rapprochent essentiellement de l’accessoire de rituel et s’adaptent aux dispositifs de présentation artistique. Ils s’articulent à partir de symboles empruntés aux dimensions occultes du rêve, du mythe et des croyances.
Accumulation of myths due to overlapping temporalities in History is the inexhaustible source and the foundation of my artistic statement. Retentions from the individual memory are adding and overprinting to the collective memory, more or less censored, and are analogically creating an universally featured but personal aesthetic. My research is essentially one of virtually experimenting with the Sacred through several disciplines, generally by actualizing repetitive patterns of civilisation within archetypal but contemporary structures. Sometimes Religious, sometimes Greek and/or from the First-Nations, the individual myth is growing, fed by instinct, dreams, beliefs and education. My perceptive tools of fantasy, intuiton and imagination are vividly alive and not checked by the reason. I make no distinction between the real and the unreal, therefore my presence is splitted; the body operating and creating in a cartesian paradigm while the spirit is surfing the collective memory and flirting with mythology. Biographical allegories are emerging from this unstoppable stream of thoughts, framing the psychic experience of inspiration into a sometimes futuristic, sometimes actual but always primitive aesthtetic. Possible manifestations of our First-Nations cultural heritage or again, witnesses of my belonging to the powerful and millenial Tattoo tradition as a bodymodification practicioner myself, the created pictures, objects and environments infiltrate, ponctuate et animate different states of the deritualized and ordinary life.
